Nuevo Babel Café

Laurie Thompson listens to troubadour Juan Gonzales
However on Tuesdays when I go to Nuevo Babel Café I know I have a home.
Last Tuesday night looked like some scene out of NYC, the Village, in the 60s. Alejandro on the bongo drums; Juan Gonzales playing Spanish guitar and singing Oaxacan melodies; his beautiful blonde American girlfriend Laurie,a yoga teacher; her Australian friend Ran still grieving over a lost baby, we share that; Reise the political poet; the rain outside; the shouts of ´Bravo´for me as I labor through my translations; I know… I am home. This is it!
So I begin yoga clases with Laurie on Monday, I will go back to hear Juan sing on Sundays now as well as Tuesdays, I go see the old folks dance in the plaza on Wednesdays, the gourmet market on Fridays, and the week is filling up. Now I can see myself here the whole four months. Time will tell. I still want to listen to Joe´s voice on my MP3 player but I just don´t have the courage yet.
Love, Beatlick Pamela
