Back in Nashville on a two-week hiatus before we set out for New York’s Peoples Poetry Gathering on Apr. 11-13, 2003, and the worst has come. War has begun. But that won’t stop our commitment to speak out on the futility. Now as I deal with my own personal loss through death, I ache for the parents, wives, and children who are mourning today, Monday, Mar. 24. Such suffering by so many different kinds of people just strengthens our resolve to stand up for peace. We support the US troops caught in this terrible debacle and hope for a quick end.
